Biography
My name is Kieran Steer and I am 12 years old. I enjoy sabre fencing and I compete at a provincial and national level. I have won several awards in fencing and have enjoyed the opportunity that fencing has given me to travel to different places to compete with different people. In the science fair, I have won 3 CIC awards, 1 DOW Chemical, 1 APEGGA, 2 gold medals, the IEEE award of excellence, and the senior chemistry award. When I grow up, I plan to either be an organic chemist or a surgeon. I also plan to fence at an Olympic level as a secondary career plan.

Abstract:My project is on a new type of solar cell called the Gratzel cell. This is a type of solar cell that uses titanium dioxide enhanced with anthocyanins (chemicals used for photosynthesis in plants) to produce electricity. This type of solar cell is much cheaper than the currently-used silicon solar cell and has the capability to replace it.
