Division:Life Sciences
Category:Junior
Region:River Valley
City:Fredericton, NB
School:Albert Street Middle School
Abstract:This project explains what causes a brain freeze and demonstrates how common they are. Fifty subjects were tested and it was discovered that 78% of them experienced brain freezes and that they are more common when the palate is exposed. Brain freezes occur when a cold substance is consumed quickly and the body reacts by dilating the blood vessels which causes the pain.
