Biography
Hi - My name is Ryan Smith. I live in a small community called Winterland on the Burin Peninsula. I am 15 years old and attending Pearce Junior High School in Burin, Newfoundland where I am completing my grade 9. I am a Honour student whom strives to do my best. My favorite subjects in school are Math and Science. While I like most sports, basketball is my favorite. In my free time I enjoy skateboarding, snowboarding in the winter, hanging out with my friends or on x-box live with them. I also love to read. Some of my favorite books are "Ranger's Apprentice" series by John Flanagan and "The Skeleton Creek" series by Patrick Carman. I am not totally sure on what I want to be when I finish school yet, but I am sure it will be in the science field. I always wanted to do something that would make a difference. I feel very Honored and Privileged to represent my school and Region at the upcoming 2012-CWSF in P.E.I.. This is my first time attending, although alittle nervous, I can not wait! I am sure this will be an incredible experience!

Abstract:For my project I have designed a mechanism that will turn kinetic energy into electrical energy in an environmentally friendly way. I call it the "Eco Shoe". In today's world we have become depended on electricity for just about everything, but unfortunately isn't always available. But with the "Eco Shoe", it is only a step away. Creating healthier life styles and reducing the greenhouse effect.
