Biography
My name is Gabriel Smith. I am currently in grade nine at Ellenvale Junior High School. Earlier this year, I won first prize at my school science fair for my project ‘What Kind of Mind do you Have?’. My interests include psychology and strategy, which is why I play many games based on strategy. I play the piano every day for thirty minutes. I have been playing for three years, and I will be playing two pieces at the Kiwanis music festival this year. I enjoy playing video games with my friends, who are all in grade nine. I’m currently writing a novel called The Gate of Verada, which is a fantasy story. I read a lot, about one hundred and fifty pages every day. My favorite books are fantasies, like Artemis Fowl, Inheritance, and the Nicholas Flamel books. I also like to read humour stories though, like books by Christopher Moore and Scott Adams. I enjoy walking through the woods with my dog Desi, and watching television with my family. After I graduate from High School, I would like to obtain a degree in Psychology.

Abstract:‘What Kind of Mind Do You Have?’ is a project designed to find out more about motivation. By giving surveys to ninety-five people and cataloging the results, I was able to find what motivated people the most. I sorted the answers to each question into four areas of motivation: Aesthetic, Practical, Entertaining and Sentimental. Overall, I found that people were motivated by Entertainment the most.
