Abstract:This project investigates the braking reaction time of driving with a cell phone or a hands free device, compared to distraction free driving. Braking reaction time was tested using a driving simulator. When travelling at a velocity of 100km/h, drivers using a cell phone had a considerably slower reaction time compared to the hands free and distraction free trials.
