Biography
I am a Grade 10 student at Hillfield Strathallan College. At the school I am a member of the Social Action committee and a member of the Crescendo Concerts committee, which recently hosted Tafelmusik and the Canadian Brass. I am a trumpet player in the school Wind Ensemble. I recently organized a speaker for International Women's Day, and am completing my silver Duke of Edinburgh award, having completed bronze last year. To complete the requirements for the awards I participated in a dog sledding trip and a winter canoe/camping trip in Algonquin Park. I am the youngest member of the first girl's Senior Field Hockey team, and I am currently assisting the junior girl's team with skill development. Outside of school, I have been sailing since I was 6, and racing on the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club Optimist Race Team. I have raced multiple times in the New England Regatta, the Orange Bowl in Miami, and the Canadian Nationals. In 2006 I represented Canada at the North American Optimist Championships in Puerto Rico against teams from as far away as Australia and Singapore.

Abstract:This project demonstrates the effect of winter freezing and sediment absoption on the toxicity of Malathion using Hyalella azteca as subjects. Test results show that Malathion breaks down, but it is unclear if chemical absoption into the sediment occurred. The residual toxicity of Malathion on the food chain was investigated.
