Biographie
My name is Joseph (Joey) Gelowitz and I am a grade seven student at Cremona School in Cremona, Alberta. This is my 7th year competing in Science Fair and I enjoy meeting other competitors and making new friends. I am definitely passionate about my projects and am honored to be at nationals. I play soccer, volleyball and badminton, and during the winter months I snowboard. The tenor sax is my favourite instrument and I enjoy volunteering at my school and serving mass at my church. During the growing season I assist my parents with our horticulture operation and like to meet and serve the public. Reading is one of my passions and I always have a book with me. I have been fortunate to travel to Cambridge, MA and visit MIT and Harvard, which was very inspiring and I am looking forward to travelling to the Middle East this December with my parents. In addition to biology and engineering, I am very interested in archeology and anthropology so this will be a trip of a lifetime. I am grateful to the sponsors of the Central Alberta Regional Science Fair and grateful to receive the Alberta Innovates-Health Solutions Award.

Division:Sciences de la terre et de l'environnement
Catégorie:Junior
Région:Central Alberta
Ville:Crossfield, AB
École:Cremona School
Sommaire:This project tested bark decoctions made from chokecherry and saskatoon plants on bacteria to determine whether or not these solutions would kill or lessen the amount of bacteria in a Petri dish. While these solutions did not inhibit the growth of bacteria, this is but one step in analyzing the potential benefits of these decoctions in the care and support of the human body.
