Is Arctic Ice Losing Its Cool?
Division:Engineering & Computing Sciences / None
Category:Intermediate
Region:Sahtu
City:Norman Wells, NT
School:Mackenzie Mountain School
Abstract:This project tests the theory of Accelerated Ice Melting. Said theory states that the melting speed of ice will accelerate as the amount of melting increases, due to the water that is created absorbing more heat than the ice itself. I tested this theory using a heat-generating apparatus and ice samples from the Mackenzie River. My results showed a tendency to support the theory.
