Biographies
Imran - I am currently a grade 11 student at Northern Secondary School at which I am enrolled in the gifted program. I participate in a number of the school's literary clubs and athletic programs such as; the school's newspaper, literary arts magazine and curling team among others. I plan to attend University in two years time, in a life sciences program.
Bronwyn - Bronwyn Dalziel was never your average girl. She grew up playing with toy dinosaurs, model planes, and LEGO™; and ever since she was in Kindergarten, her family has housed a veritable menagerie of fish, lizards and the occasional snake. An aspiring ornithologist, Dalziel enjoys nature hikes and observing the birds in her own backyard; recently, she has taken a step towards her future career by volunteering at the Tommy Thompson Park Bird Research Station. A well-rounded individual, Dalziel’s scientific half is balanced by great creativity, and she has received the James Houston Award for Art in Grade 6 as a result. Other accomplishments include a middle school Achievement Award for Design Technology, various math awards and a place on the honor role five years running. As well as bird watching, Dalziel spends her free time reading, writing fan fiction, playing video games and guitar, listening to classic rock and having fun with friends; her extracurricular activities have included Robotics, Chess and Science Clubs; Dodgeball; Synchronized Swimming, Figure Skating and Curling. Dalziel lives with her parents and younger brother David in Toronto, Ontario, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Effects of Bacillus thuringiensis on Non-Target Invertebrates

Abstract:The project focuses on how the bacterial pesticide Bacillus thuringiensis serovar kurstaki affects insects (beetle larva and crickets) other than its primary target (caterpillars) at varying concentrations. Many experimental groups with 20 insects each have been run, with the definitive results being the mortality rates. The project has indicated that when used at the proper dosage, Bt is an effective and specific pesticide.
