Biography
Conrad Yiridoe is a grade 9 student at Bible Hill Junior High School, in Truro, Nova Scotia. At school the subjects that I like best are mathematics and science. Besides winning Gold (Intermediate, Physical Science category), my science project was also judged as the overall project with the most “Outstanding Experimental Procedure” Senior Division, at the 2009 Chignecto-Central West Regional Science Fair competition. I also enjoy playing piano. I have competed in the Annual Music Festival in Truro, NS, during the past 4 years. Awards I have won in past Music Festivals (piano) include Most Promising Young Pianist, and others in piano categories such as Classical, Baroque, Modern and Post Romantic, and Jazz and Blues. Soccer is my favourite sport. I play for my school soccer and badminton teams. I play competitive soccer all year round, and has made the provincial soccer team during the past 3 years. My most notable experience was as a result of participating in the provincial soccer team, when I played at a 2008 national soccer tournament in Montreal. I have not yet decided on what area or subject I will study at the university.

Abstract:I investigated: i) the effect of air column length in two different tubes each closed at one end with different liquids (water and canola oil) and two different solids (wood and paper), on resonant frequencies generated; and ii) used the data to calculate the speed of sound in the air columns of the tubes used, under home-designed experiments. Less dense solids generated lower frequencies.
