Biography
I am a Secondary 5 student at Séminaire des Pères Maristes in Quebec City. This is my first participation at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. I am a Royal Canadian Sea Cadet at RCSCC 08 Champlain. One of my passions is music; I've been playing the saxophone for nearly six years and I also play the bagpipes. I belong to several musical ensembles, but I also participate in many shows as a solo artist. I'm interested in science because it allows us to better understand our world and to find new methods to save time, money and resources. Later, I would like to become a University Professor in a field of science. I also love everything about technology or nature. Despite all this, I find a little time to do some reading, but also writing. I've often been rewarded for my involvement as a student and I think that what inspired me to become what I am was the older students. Indeed, they showed me what could be done if you put your heart into it; I want to do the same and also inspire younger students. I believe that anything can be achieved with effort. My advice: Don't give up!

Des protéines et des plantes!
Challenge:Discovery
Category:Senior
Region:Québec et Chaudière-Appalaches
City:Québec, QC
School:Séminaire des Pères Maristes
Abstract:The methods currently used for the production biopharmaceuticals will not be efficient enough in the future. One solution to this problem is the development of new protein expression systems, such as the transient expression system. This implies the use of plants to produce the protein of interest. My experiment was to prove the efficiency of this system by the transient expression of the C2B8 antibody.
