Biography
My name is Kevin McIlvenna and I go to Smiths Falls District Collegiate Insititute. I am a part of my school's badminton, tennis, and track and field teams. I love to play tennis and I am fortunate enough to have a tennis court near my house. I actually have a ball machine that I can utilize and it really comes in handy when I have no one to play with. Last year, I was in our school's honour roll and won the award for highest grade average. I also won the art, mathematics, and science awards. I was very proud of myself. Without a doubt, I plan to go to university if all goes well, but as of now, I do not have a selected career of preference. I have a sister, Amy, who is one year younger than myself and she loves horses. Thankfully, she has two of her own at our place, Chief and Spirit. This keeps her busy. Personally, I am not extremely fond of horses. With this all said, I am really looking for to participating at this year's Canada Wide Science Fair.

Abstract:This experiment determined the sugar and salt concentrations in water, utilizing the index of refraction of the liquids, as well as the sugar and salt concentrations of everyday solutions. A laser pointer and a glass prism were used. The sugar and salt concentrations increased the index of refraction of the water. The concentrations were also accurately predicted and found for the everyday solutions.
