Biography
My name is Bing Luo, and I was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. I lived in Regina for three years until I moved to Vancouver where my sister was born. I currently live in Vancouver with my mother and my sister. I attend Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School and I am enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program. Outside of school, I enjoy participating in a wide variety of activities. I am currently working on my teacher’s diploma with the Royal Conservatory of Music. For the past couple years, I volunteered regularly at our community centre as well where I worked as the supervisor of the Youth club and a variety of other community organizations. I also enjoy a variety of sports. I am the captain of our Ultimate Frisbee team, and play on various teams in the city. In school, I’m also involved in many clubs and organizations. I’m the head of our school’s World Vision club and a senior editor of our school science journal, The Big Bang. In the spare time not taken up by my other activities, I enjoy building and taking apart computers, sports, and a good book.

The Missing Link: An Investigation into JAK 2 Phosphorylation
Division:Life Sciences / None
Category:Senior
Region:Greater Vancouver
City:Vancouver, BC
School:Sir Winston Churchill Secondary
Abstract:This project is an investigation in which the goal is to determine if JAK2 phosphorylation is an upstream signaling pathway responsible for oxLDL-mediated macrophage survival. The experiment employed a JAK2 inhibitor: AG490. The combination of individual analyses of each set of data indicated that AG490 has a negative, time-dependent, dose-dependent, specific effect on oxLDL-mediated macrophage survival.
