Simranpreet - My name is Simranpreet Kaur Anand. I am a thirteen year old, grade eight student at Sullivan Heights Secondary School, Surrey, B.C. I have a older sister, who is only 16 months older than me, I also have a twin sister. My hobbies include bike-riding, rock climbing, playing frisbee, drawing, painting, and photography. I also have an interest in travelling and have been to Asia and Europe several times. The subjects I am interested in are art and science and that is one of the reasons I participated in the district science fair. In grades four, five, and eight my sister and I recieved gold ribbons. Some of my other achievements are recieving an acedemic achievement award in my elementary school and having my artwork displayed in a Rick Hansen art show that was held at my school. My post secondary plans are to study farther in the science and arts fields and then hopefully find a career that suits my areas of interest.

Abstract:This project analyses the component molecules of substances. The process takes place using a solvent, paper and a compound. It works by putting the compound on the paper and then adding the solvent. The solvent moves up the paper because of adhesion and cohesion, carrying up the pigments. The component molecules separate because of their size and adhesion to the paper, showing the different pigments.
