Biography
I started elementary school in Regina, Saskatchewan, continued middle school in Hamilton, Ontario and I am finishing off high school in Prince George, BC. I also have a wide musical interest, playing the Alto Saxophone, Piano, and Cello and in concert bands. I have participated in a wide variety of extracurricular activities including student council, newsletter publishing, and community work. With my certification in Standard First Aid with CPR “C”, I supervised swimming lessons and saved a man in a vehicle accident. I have enthusiastically participated in numerous science and technology programs including McMaster Mini-University, Shad Valley, as well as school, regional and national science fairs. I completed diverse science fair projects in the past few years, and through regional fairs, I became a finalist at the 2004 Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) in St. Johns, Newfoundland, 2005 CWSF in Vancouver and last year representing the Central Interior BC at the 2006 CWSF in Saguenay, Quebec. These opportunities allowed me to meet other science and technology oriented students in Canada and explore diverse areas of our country. My science fair experience has sparked a keen interest in science and also in sharing my research with others.

Abstract:This project investigates whether SVCT2 is an effective and safe protein to attach to certain brain tumor treatments and bypass the Blood Brain Barrier. Using current information on how specific proteins work, I devised a procedure that should allow SVCT2 to attach with specific forms of cancer treatments. This should allow for SVCT2 to connect with SAHA and bypass with no unwanted toxic side effects.
