Biography
My name is Varun Sriram. I am a grade nine student from Tom Baines Junior High in Calgary Alberta. My favourite subjects in school are Science and Social Studies. Things I like to do outside of school are playing the drums, play video games, and ride my bike. I have been participating in the Calgary Youth Science Fair for five years and this is my first time in the CWSF. This year I have won the APEGGA Secondary Engineering Award and the Devon Top Intermediate Award for my project. One day I hope to be a mechanical engineer.

Abstract:Commercial and military aircrafts use swept wings to generate lift force during flights. The effect of length and angle of wings on the lift generated was studied. The lift force was determined by measuring the weight difference experienced by the wings at a particular wind velocity. Among the wings studied, 45 cm long wings swept back 35 degrees generated the maximum lift.
