Biography
I am a 12 year old Grade 7 girl who attends Collingwood School in West Vancouver. Even though I may be slightly vertically challenged, I play on both my school’s basketball and volleyball teams. My other interests are music, swimming and fashion. I have been fortunate to have been awarded several academic awards, such as top student in Grade 6 for English and I recently was awarded 2nd place provincially in the Royal Commonwealth Essay Competition. I hope to be this year’s top student in English, Science and Socials Studies. I am an active volunteer at my local rec centre teaching gymnastics to young children and am very involved in my local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Last year, I travelled to Ottawa to meet the Prime Minister and various members of parliament to educate them a little bit about life with diabetes. This year, I am the youth ambassador for the Vancouver Walk to Cure Diabetes which will be held on May 25th. I am very excited to be participating in the Canada-Wide Science Fair and look forward to the experience.

Abstract:My experiment tested the effect that the heel-height of a shoe has on the proportional amount of weight borne by the front and the back of the foot. I concluded that a shoe's heel-height (particularly shoes with heels taller than 7.5 cm) can have a significant effect on the pressure on the front of the foot which can result in severe health consequences.
