Biography
My name is Alyssa Borutski and I am fifteen years old. I live in the small town (1200 people) of Barry's Bay where I currently live with my mother (Lorraine), father (Clifford), and younger sister (Kali). I come from a large extended family (my parents both have 7 brothers and sisters) of the Polish background. I live on Wadsworth Lake, and enjoy swimming and waterskiing. I love sports and I have played on my high school's varsity basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, and track & feild teams, just to name a few. Some of my hobbies include: baking (I make novilty cakes), scrapbooking, and participating in my high school’s Student Reach Team (trivia). I voulenteer within the community and am apart of a choir. Awards I have received include: 1st Place in the Gauss Mathematics Competiton, MIP (Most Improved Player) in Basketball, Principles Award of Student Leadership, 1st Place in Health Science Catergory (Intermediate), RCRSTF Award of Excellence and Best Investigative Science Project. I have am Captain of the varsity Basketball team, and would possibly like to get a basketball scholarship. In the future I want to persue a career in medicine, possibly working as a family or sports medicine psycian.

Abstract:Using the concept of immunofluorescence microscopy, I have developed, a real-time indication process for detecting listeria monocytogenes amoung many other things. Upon the application of the correct antibodies, under a UV light, the listeria monocytogenes will fluoresce.
