Biography
I am a grade 8 student at Central Public School in Grimsby, Ontario. I have received honors for the past 2 years. I have participated in several school wide initiatives including: Science Fair, Me to We, EcoLeadership, Yearbook and Card Club. Some of my favorite things to do include: playing indoor and outdoor soccer, canoeing in Algonquin Park, camping, hiking, skating on the creek beside my house and just plain having fun. I learned how to build a snow quinzee this past winter and actually slept part of the night in it. I volunteer at Kiddie Castle and Kilean Lodge. At the Niagara Regional Science and Engineering Fair, I was awarded the Earth Science Award from Brock University, the Water Environmental Association of Ontario (WEAO) award and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority award. I also won Silver in my division and I am very honoured to have been selected to represent the Niagara Region at the 2010 Canada Wide Science Fair in Peterborough. I am very passionate about the environment and I hope to pursue a career either in engineering or environmental science. I plan to continue her education accordingly.

Division:Health Sciences
Category:Junior
Region:Niagara
City:Grimsby, ON
School:Central E.S.
Abstract:The experiment investigated factors that potentially affected the water quality of a creek that runs through a rural and small urban area. Samples were collected along the creek and analyzed for nutrient pollution. The results were compared to the provincial water quality guidelines which indicated small increases in nutrient water pollution along the creek. Most significantly, some phosphate levels slightly exceeded the provincial guidelines.
