Biography
My name is Megan Bursey and I am 18 years old. I am currently in grade 12 at Stanley Humphries Secondary School in Castlegar, British Columbia. I am actively involved in my community and have traveled to South America with Rotary Interact. I enjoy golf, softball, piano, volleyball. My future plans are to complete my Associates of Science Degree and continue to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, furthing to complete my Masters as a Nurse Practitioner. . In the regional science fair I was awarded with the Genome BC Award for the second year, first place in my category and a 2000$ dollar scholarship from the BC Innovations Council.

Abstract:Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality in Canada and has no cure other than heart transplant. With bone marrow derived stem cells it is the hope that the cardiomyoctyes within in the heart are able to be reactivated or replaced my stem cells to regenerate the muscle walls of the heart.
