Abstract:Medication non-compliance, often due to forgetfulness, is prevalent in our society and can have severe repercussions. A novel, automated, computer program was created to send reminder text messages to cell phones. This system demonstrated significant improvements in compliance in healthy volunteers, stable patients, and post heart attack patients taking “life-saving” medications. Individuals with the highest rates of non-compliance appeared to benefit most from this system.
