My name is Brandon Wisniewski. I am thirteen years old and I live in Barrie, Ontario with my Mom and Dad and my two older sisters. I attend St. Monica's Elementary School as a grade eight student. I have many hobbies. I enjoy playing hockey on my school team, skiing and fishing with my Dad and participating in science fairs. Every spring, my Dad and I go to my uncle's hunt camp in Northern Ontario to fish for lake trout. Because it is in such a remote area, we have to fly in by float plane. I love flying and plan on getting my pilot's license some day. Currently, I am training to become a life guard. I have two more levels until I can be fully certified as a life guard. I take school very seriously. Although I haven't decided what I want to study yet, I plan to continue my science education when I get to the university level. |

Division: | International / None | Category: | Junior | Region: | Simcoe County | City: | Barrie, ON | School: | St. Monica's E.S. | Abstract: | This project studied the viability of various devices that, when attached above an aircraft’s wing, help re-direct the devastating winds of a microburst’s downdraft. Each was tested in a home-designed wind-tunnel to measure how much lift it gained or lost. Lift was determined by measuring the aircrafts weight change. The directional holes on the device on Aircraft C-GGUC provided the best protection. |
