Biographie
Hi, my name is Jacob McGavin. I founded the group Kids Care which is a group based on young students making a difference in others lives. We have done much for the environment and we also have raised $1500 for building a school in Kenya. I am also involved in many sports teams such as hockey, baseball and soccer. Some of my hobbies and interests are reading, playing sports, exploring the outdoors and competitive plowing. I am not quite sure what I would like to do when I grow up but I like that it would be very cool to be an environmental engineer or an environmental activist. I have been to pre-provincial speeches twice and have placed 2nd both times. I also have made it to Seaforth for our regional science fair all but my 1st year. Finally I have won the Key Contribution Award for the Avon Maitland District School Board for encouraging positive citizenship with the students. I am very excited to be representing my home town here in Ottawa!

Bio-Mass Heating; Hot Topic or Not?

Sommaire:In my project I explored which bio-mass pellet was most efficient and environmentally friendly. I conducted an experiment to discover which type of bio-mass pellet (corn, oats, switchgrass and wood) generated the most heat and burned most consistently. I factored in the price and CO2 emissions into my conclusions. I discovered that overall, corn and oats are the most efficient and environmentally friendly.
