Biography
I love to engage in volunteer work and thus have accumulated many on-going volunteer jobs over the past 3 years; most notably, assistant-coaching a Special Olympics alpine ski team, as well as being a Junior Ski Patrol with the Canadian Ski Patrol System for the past two years. I have a deep passion for the environment, coupled with a love of nature; hiking, biking and skiing are just some of the activities that I frequently enjoy. In the future, I hope to combine these interests with a career in ecology, in addition to performing humanitarian work.

Category:Intermediate
Region:Edmonton
City:Edmonton, AB
School:Oliver School
Abstract:This project examined ethynylestradiol; the primary form of estrogen in the contraceptive pill (which is attributed to gender changes in fish), in water from the Bow and North Saskatchewan rivers. Water samples were collected at the headwaters and after a major city along both rivers and analyzed to determine if the concentrations obtained were enough to pose health risks for humans and organisms alike.
