Biographie
Hi, my name is Jon Miller and this is my first time participating in the Canada Wide Science Fair. I really enjoy trying to figure out how things work and that is what I like about science. My other interests include playing competetive golf, setting in volleyball and playing badminton. My favorite season is summer so I can golf and continue my passion for fishing. I want to attempt fly fishing and have been tying my own flies for two years now. When I have some free time I play video games and watch movies. I like any movies that are designed after the Marvel Comics with thier awesome special effects. This year I won first place at my regional science fair in the physical sciences category. I am very excited to be coming to Truro, Nova Scotia because my grandparents live in the province and my parents met there, at the old Nova Scotia Teachers College.

Sommaire:This project was designed to determine the best wood species for use as a construction material in the windy, semi-arid weather conditions of Southern Alberta. Seven different species of wood were exposed to water and wind for a period of thirty days, simulating local weather patterns. A compressive strength test was carried out on each sample to determine loss of integrity.
