Biography
I am a grade ten student from Antigonish. Along with science I have many interests, including music, specifically piano performance, curling, and history. I am currently working towards obtaining my Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto in piano performance and intend to have a career in music. Last year I was a national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition in Quebec, and will be travelling there in June to compete this year for the second time. I have always lived in the country and enjoy gardening and love animals. I also love to travel and will actually be going to Italy this summer with my family to visit relatives.

All Packed Up: A Study in Random Close Packing
Division:International / None
Category:Intermediate
Region:Strait
City:Antigonish, NS
School:Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional School
Abstract:This project is a series of experiments to model the random close-packing (RCP) of atoms in solids in both two and three dimensions. These experiments were designed to measure two specific properties of randomly close-packed structures: the packing efficiency, defined as the amount of space actually filled by the atoms, and the average coordination number.
