Abstract:Found in Saskatchewan, wild sarsaparilla belongs to the same plant family as ginseng. Twenty-four extracts were obtained from this plant, two of which were most effective in killing human cancer cells without greatly affecting normal human cells. Novel anti-cancer compounds were thus isolated from a local plant.
