Biographies
Tamara - My name is Tamara Cremo, I’m seventeen years of age, a grade 12 student attending the We’koqma’q Mikmaw School. I have already been accepted to St, Francis Xavier University for the Bachelor of Arts Program for the September of this year 2013. My interest include traveling, swimming, fundraising, and being with friends. I got the mikmaq award and the 2nd highest average. I got a Scholar ship of $1,000 for STFX and $4,000 entrance scholarship for STFX.I have been advocate a spokes women and example for young mikmaq women. I was also the Queen of 2012 in my Community.Being the youth honorary witness at the Truth Conciliation Commission I have learn what happened in the Indian Residential Schools.We produced the video “Our legacy, Our hope” and showed it the United Nations in New York City. We have also showed others who need to know about or Canadian History. We picked this project because Kendyl and I want to be in a medical profession and its a step closer to accomplishing our goals. In the future I hope to educate others about the importance of preventing illnesses. i realized being organized and confident while presenting your project is important.
Kendyl - My name is Kendyl Sylliboy. I am seventeen years of age, Grade 12 student at the Wekoqmaq Mikmaw School. I come from a small reserve located Cape Breton, Ns. I have taken my role as a student seriously and participated in all aspects of my education. I have support my fellow students and worked as a role model for those younger than I. I am grounded to my Mikmaw culture this allows me to stand strong by my beliefs. Last year in my grade 11 year I was lucky enough to participated in a project which highlighted the impact of Residential School in my community. I was the member if a team in my school who traveled to New York City to present to the United Nations about this experience and impact. In the fall I will attending the Bachelor of Arts Program at St. Francis Xavier University, transitioning from High School to University will be a challenge, but I will strive to complete my program to the best of my abilities. I’m so glad that I got this far in the Science Fair, the advice I’d give to other students is to have confidence in their projects.

Don’t Bug Me - Viral and Bacterial Infections

Abstract:People are aware that viruses/bacteria are transmitted through human and surface contact. This project explores perceptions people had about how viruses and bacteria were contracted in relation to illness. The hypothesis is that adults have a better understanding of how viruses/ bacteria are contracted. The results of the exploration supported that adults were more confident in their understanding of bacterial and viral contraction.
