Biography
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Mark Bezdek came to Canada in 2003, at the age of 9. This is currently his second year attending the CWSF. Mark has a wide interest of Mathematics and Science, Mark is also interested in hockey, soccer, and basketball. When he grows up he would like to be a computer technician. Mark plans to finish his undergraduate years at the University of Calgary. Mark lives by the quote "The best way to live your life is to be an optimist." Mark loves to be outside and play sports with his brothers and friends and also loves to visit other countries. Mark speaks three languages.

Abstract:The central problem of my project is the following:Given a convex hole C (in the plane) and N planks of equal width, find the best position of the N planks such that they together cover the largest possible area of C. I solve this problem for all N when C is a regular triangle and for N=1 when C can be some other shape.
