Biography
My name is Alex Pardy and I am a 12-year-old, grade seven student at Chatham Christian School in Chatham, Ontario. I live outside Chatham in the village of Dover Centre with my parents and two younger brothers and my little sister. This is my first year involved in science fairs. Music and sports are significant in my life, especially piano and hockey, both of which I have played since the age of five. Recently, I have started to learn the clarinet and would like to learn to play the guitar. My hobbies include reading, computer gaming and playing soccer, fastball and basketball. In the future, I would like to be either an engineer or doctor.

Let the Wind Blow - But Make Your Turbine Efficient
Division:Health Sciences / Environmental Innovation
Category:Junior
Region:Chatham-Kent
City:Dover Centre, ON
School:Chatham Christian E.S.
Abstract:This project looked at the output voltage of two vertical axis wind turbines (two blades vs three blades). Four different wind speeds were simulated using a fan and a hairdryer and the output voltage for each wind turbine was measured. The three blade turbine produced more electricity in all cases because of the increased surface area of the wind turbine blades.
