Biography
My name is Isaac Longard and I am a grade ten student at Park View Education Centre in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. I am excited to be attending the Canada Wide Science Fair! I have an interest in sustainable energy and energy conservation. I tend to avoid activities involving unnecessary use of internal combustion engines! My hobbies include volleyball, badminton, tennis, swimming, soccer, skiing, biking, sailing, music and camping. I have earned gold medals in Badminton at the provincial level and have been a five time gold medalist at the regional science fair. I also enjoy working with youth. I have participated in student leadership programs and have taught many recreational activities from snowshoeing to tennis! Next year I will be taking the International Baccalaureate program at Park View. My favorite subject areas are math and science and my career interests include engineering or architecture.

Abstract:This project includes the design and construction of a pedal powered water pump. It was economically constructed with previously used materials. An extensive study of its advantages over hand pumping was conducted. The Pedal Pumper proved to be efficient. This pedal powered pump could have applications in any remote areas off the grid, such as struggling communities in third world countries.
