| I'm Brittany Smrke. I played in 85 hockey games this season. When I'm not building and operating a 576 mirror solar furnace I play goaltender for my Oakville Bantam BB Rep hockey team. "My goal is to stop your goal". Shopping for shoes and tee shirts and listening to music by the Jonas Brothers are also favourite pastimes of mine. I enjoy science and the arts in school and love the Twilight literature series. In addition to hockey, I play basketball, badminton, soccer and track and field. Helping coach some of the junior girls sports teams at my school has also been very rewarding this season. High school will start for me in September and I'm excited about this new challenge. Being selected to attend the Canada Wide Science Fair is an experience of a lifetime. I'm very excited and grateful for the chance to meet kids from across Canada and to share projects and experiences. |

Mirror, Mirror...Who's the Most Renewable of Them All?

Using only a 75 watt floodlight as a light source, and from 6 feet away the light energy was focused to achieve a surface temperature of 160 degrees C. Also, water reached the early boiling stage. In sunny regions of the world this technology could be used to generate electricity. |
