Biography
My name is Michaela Crea. I am a Grade 8 student at St. Hubert Catholic School in North Bay, Ontario. I enjoy reading, listening to music and swimming. I recently was on the North Bay Titans swim team and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have one brother and a dog named Max and parents who love me. I have a great group of friends and enjoy spending time with them. School is very important to me and I would like to become a lawyer. My inspiration for my project was to find a environmentally friendly use for plastics in concrete. The advice I would give to students who want to do a science project is to have a good purpose, try to find a unique topic and dont be afraid to try because science doesnt always have to be right...science is fun!!

Abstract:My project is on biodegradable plastic and how it can be a substitue for fiber mesh. I want this theory to enhance the strength of concrete. Fiber Mesh reinforments are not recyclable but are proven for strength. I want biodegradable plastic to be as strong as exsisting reinforments, but can still be healthy for the environment. Biodegradable plastic can be recycled and can benefit us.
