Biographies
Byron - I am a thirteen year old boy from Fort Frances, Ontario. I like Math, Gym, and Science. I enjoy playing Hockey, Football, Baseball, Basketball, and almost anything that requires physical movement. I plan on becoming a Data Analyst and going to the University of Waterloo. I went to the 2013 Peewee AAA Provincial Hockey Tournament, I came second along with my partner, Graham Anderson in the Sunset Country Regional Science Fair. My partner and I found our inspiration from the large amount of studies that questioned the dangers of cell phones. We then researched the topic and found that cell phones emit dangerous radiation and we continued on from there. We now plan on constructing a slimmer case that would reduce the same amount or more radiation as the old case. To any students thinking about doing a project, we ask them to do something that they would be interested in, and not something that they find boring or uninteresting. If a student were to do this, they would be inspired to dig deep into the topic, and would enjoy the experience instead of trying to get it done as soon as possible.
Graham - Hello! I am a 14 year old boy from Fort Frances, ON. Some of my hobbies are Math, Gym, and sports. I enjoy outdoor activities like Hunting, Fishing, and Hiking. My favourite sports are Football, and hockey. My partner Byron Stewart and I placed second in the Sunset Country Regional Science Fair. My partner and I found our inspiration from the large amount of studies that questioned the dangers of cellphones. We then researched the topic, and found that cellphones emit a dangerous type of radiation, then we continued on from there. We now plan on constructing a case that is more slim, but can still reduce the same amount or more as our past case (s). To any students thinking about doing a project, we advice them to do a project that they are interested in, rather then doing a project that you find boring or un-interestng. If the student were to do this, they would be inspired to dig deeper into the project, and would have an easier time preforming an oral presentation. The student should also find the project more of an enjoying experience.

A Smarter Case
Challenge:Innovation
Category:Junior
Region:Sunset Country
City:Fort Frances, ON
School:J.W. Walker E.S.
Abstract:In our project, we studied electromagnetic radiation and its dangers to society. In response to learning about these fields, we constructed a smartphone case to block radiation emisions from these devices using a very known metallic substance, aluminum.
