Biography
Hello, my name is Anna Graham. I am a grade nine student at Carleton Place High School in the Ottawa Valley. This year was my first year taking part in a Science Fair. My original idea for a project was investigating alchemy. However, the original experiment failed so I began researching a new project. I have always enjoyed the show Big Bang Theory which happens to be a show about two physicists. I researched projects involving physics and found the concept of Lenz’s Law. I was extremely interested and decided to do my project on electromagnetic induction. If I were to further my investigations I would research and design an experiment using the current produced within the copper tube to potentially power something. I would suggest to anyone participating in a science fair to get a head start on things and make sure to get your project done early so you can research more on your project and try and make your project as good as you can! When not working on my project I enjoy horseback riding, downhill skiing and creating jewelry for my business Sandpiper Jewelry. I am looking forward to my week in Fredericton.

Lenz's Law
Challenge:Discovery
Category:Intermediate
Region:Rideau-St. Lawrence
City:Carleton Place, ON
School:Carleton Place H.S.
Abstract:My project was to develop an experiment that tested and created a visual display of Lenz's Law through a procedure involving a series of pipes and rare earth magnets. I further explored how chilling the pipes in dry ice would magnify the effects of Lenz's law and investigated the applications of electromagnetic induction.
