Biography
My name is Kelsey; I'm 13 years old. I live on a farm near Abbotsford. We have a 20 acre farm with blueberries, a pond plant nursery and Christmas trees. I enjoy riding our Quad around our farm, climbing trees and doing greenhouse work with my friends. I have two dogs and two cats. We spend a lot of time at Harrison Lake where I enjoy water sports like knee boarding, tubing and swimming. Sports are a big thing for me and I enjoy almost any! My favorite sports are volleyball, kneeboarding, swimming, fast pitch and snowboarding! I will join any available sport teams at school and I play on a fast pitch team. At my school we always play dodge ball and other games at recess. School is fun, and my favorite subjects are reading, art and science. I love reading; I finished 3 THICK books in two weeks. After I graduate my plans are to be a hair dresser and something to do with animals. I hope that covers most of it!

Bye-Bye Birdies
Division:Health Sciences / Environmental Innovation
Category:Junior
Region:Fraser Valley
City:Abbotsford, BC
School:Barrowtown Elementary
Abstract:Bird control is an important part of blueberry farming but there are many concerns with the audible bird deterrents like propane cannons. I have designed a visual bird deterrent that is a self reeling kite. It simulates a bird of prey and because it can reel it self in and out, it can be use in variable winds and does not cause noise pollution.
