Division: | Biotechnology | Category: | Senior | Region: | Edmonton | City: | Edmonton, AB | School: | Old Scona Academic High School, Archbishop MacDonald Catholic High School | Abstract: | Lobitonin, a novel mixture of plant compounds, was extracted from a tropical fruit to isolate and characterize its constituents using ammoniacal extraction procedure and spectroscopic techniques. Using acid phosphatase colorimetric assay, Lobitonin was determined to be effective against tested cancer-cell lines. Lobitonin appears to be a promising new anti-cancer agent. |
