| I am in grade eight at Turnbull School in Ottawa, Ontario. I was born in Ottawa and have lived here all my life. I play on my school's basketball, soccer, and badminton teams. My favourite subjects at school are science and English. Since grade four, I have won three writing awards, a Student of the Year award, a French award, and an overall perseverance award. My hobbies include competitive dance (jazz, tap, ballet), skiing, running, and playing the flute. I spend approximately eight and a half hours a week dancing. Next year I am going to Canterbury High School, a high school of the arts, for dance. In my non-existent "spare" time I enjoy reading, writing, photography and shopping. During the summer I enjoy sailing and solo canoeing at a overnight camp at a remote lake. This is my second year at the Canada Wide Science Fair, and I had wanted to attend since grade three, when my first sister attended. Both of my older sisters have been to the Canada-Wide Science Fair. |

Instrumentalists had stronger inspiratory and expiratory muscles then non-instrumentalists. Expiratory results improved with age. Males had higher results than females. Height did not affect results. People who played smaller instruments that played higher notes had better results. Musical experience did not affect results. |
