My name is Andrew Foody, I am in Grade 11 student attending Ashbury College in Ottawa, Ontario. I am very interested in environmental issues, not only have I done a project on the subject but I have spent countless hours volunteering to make a difference. Although I do not know what I would like to do in the future, I do not want to "close doors". To that end, I have engaged in a wide vareity of extracurricular activities at my school, ranging from debating to protein modelling, all while pursuing an IB diploma. |
| Andrew Foody The Missing Piece of Global Warming
Division: | Engineering & Computing Sciences / None | Category: | Senior | Region: | Ottawa | City: | Ottawa, ON | School: | Ashbury College | Abstract: | The IPCC’s projection for sea level rise assumes that ice flow from Greenland’s glaciers will remain constant even as global temperatures increase. This project was designed to challenge the IPCC's assumption by finding a relationship between temperature and ice flow. A model based on this relationship and NASA satellite data indicates that the IPCC may have underestimated future sea level rise by approximately 25%. |
