Biography
My name is Taylen Sylvestre. I'm a 16 year old student at CRDS and I'm from Clearwater River, Saskatchewan. My community is the Clearwater River Dene Nation reserve. In my free time I like to enjoy the land and do activities such as ATVing. I also I like to play video games. I got my inspiration for my Łuë Įts'uzi project from hearing about the ways my ancestors hunted and trapped. I wanted to use my First Nations heritage to showcase traditional land based science. My plans for the future is to go to University so I can become a engineer or a businessman. My advice to other students to do a project is if you're curious about something search up as much information as you can find on it or ask someone about it.

Region:Saskatchewan First Nations
City:Clearwater River , SK
School:Clearwater River Dene School
Abstract:My project was creating a traditional Dene fish trap called an Łuë Įts'uzi. This trap design was used by my ancestors in their time to catch fish 1-2 at a time. The process involved harvesting local natural resources from traditional Dene territory and using traditional methods to create the Łuë Įts'uzi. No modern or unnatural materials were used for this project.
