| I am currently in the 11th grade, and am currently working towards the completion of a bilingual International Baccalaureate Programme diploma at Moira Secondary School in Belleville, Ontario. I play rugby, volleyball, badminton, and am also on my school's track and field team. I am an active member of my school's EarthCare team, and I am head of the Communications and Community Outreach Committee on student council. I recently organized Random Acts of Kindness Week within my school, as well as a Penny Drive to raise money for HIV/AIDS awareness. When I graduate, I plan on completing an undergraduate degree in Biology before proceeding to medical school where I hope to complete further studies to become an oncologist. |

Eye colour in Drosophila melanogaster is attributed to two types of pigments, pteridines and ommochromes. Pteridines have been found to be effective as anticancer drugs. Are D. melanogaster with pteridines in their eyes more protected from UV radiation than those with only ommochromes in their eyes? |
