Biography
My name is Smruthi Ramesh and I attend Port Credit Secondary school and am part of the Scitech program. I enjoy reading and drawing and love to dance. In the future I hope to become a researcher in the medicinal field. Participating in the Science Fair is really important to me. It has taught me alot about the production of biodiesel and the importance of it to our society. I have really enjoyed the process of creating the project and loved the feeling of satisfaction after the project was completed. My partner and I hope to further test our apricot biodiesel and develop it into a fuel that could be found in engines in the near future. This process has taught me to persevere and never give up when I hit road blocks.

Prunus Armeniaca: the Fuel of the Future
Challenge:Energy
Category:Intermediate
Region:Peel
City:Mississauga, ON
School:Port Credit S.S.
Abstract:Our project tests to determine if the oil derived from the Prunus armeniaca could formulate a more efficient bio-diesel than the bio-diesel produced using the oil derived from the Ricinus communis, Cocos nucifera or a blend of these. We concluded that bio-diesel produced from the Prunus armeniaca and the blend of the Prunus armeniaca and the Ricinus communis was the most efficient bio-diesel.
