| Colleen Kennedy is a thirteen-year-old grade seven student at Pacific Way Elementary School in Kamloops, British Columbia. She is committed to school work, and has participated in the Regional Science Fair four years in a row. This is the first time she has been asked to attend the Nationals. This year’s project was Colleen’s first in Environmental Science, and she was granted two major awards, one from the BC Teachers Association and one for raising awareness about a current issue. In previous years, Colleen won major awards for Computational and Physical Sciences. She enjoys many sports and participates in numerous extracurricular activities. She currently plays right wing on her Peewee hockey team and is both keeper and forward on her U13 soccer team. She loves skiing and has been hitting the slopes since the age of three. Other hobbies include reading, sketching and painting. She also enjoys being with her friends as much as possible. Colleen is an accomplished musician who sings and plays piano and clarinet. To earn a little shopping money this past winter, Colleen worked as a hockey official. She is thrilled to be attending the Canada Wide Science Fair in Ottawa. |

It compared the melting rate of two ice blocks with a 20% difference in mass, reflecting polar ice caps now and thirty years ago. Statistical analyses were used to confirm the results that the larger ice cap melted slightly faster than the smaller ice cap. |
