Biography
My name is Ian Pannell. I'm 14 years old and in grade 9 at Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. My interests include camping, fishing, hunting, biking, computers, football and archery. I'm very pleased to have made it to the Canada Wide Science Fair. The reason I chose this project was because, my family are all members of our city's archery club, the Timberland Bowbenders. My uncle got me started on archery when I was six years old. I look forward to meeting other people and seeing other projects, while I'm in Ottawa.

Arrow Flight and Speed
Division:Health Sciences / None
Category:Intermediate
Region:Prince Albert & Northeast Saskatchewan
City:Prince Albert, SK
School:Carlton Comprehensive High School
Abstract:The project was an investigation into the effect of tip weight and fletching type on speed and flight of arrows. The procedure involved shooting a combination of 32 arrows through a chronometer to measure speed. The determining factor in examining flight characteristics was how the arrow landed on the target face. The results confirmed that lighter arrows traveled faster, and larger fletching slowed arrow speed.
