| I am a good student and love to read. I’m pretty good at most subjects, especially math. I also play percussion in the Brandon Eastside band. Outside of school, I play the drums and go rollerblading every chance I get. I just got my first wakeboard and plan to have a great time using it at Clear Lake. I also like art, particularly painting. I’m part of Grand Valley Community Church’s youth group. I volunteer as a worker in our church’s kids program and work with kids ages 2 through kindergarten. Recently, I won the following awards at the Western Manitoba Science Fair. This was my first science fair project. The awards were for the Assiniboine College Environmental Care Award, Brodie Davis Alumni Think Green Award and The Manitoba Science Technology Energy and Mines Best of Fair Award. I’m in grade seven, so I don’t have any big career plans just yet. |

Casting Call for Worms

Vermicoposting is the process of composting organic waste using Red Wiggler worms. The worms eat the waste and produce a byproduct called castings. The castings are high in nutrients and are beneficial for gardens and soil needs. This process is environmentally friendly and reduces waste going into our landfills. |
