Kevin - I was born in Vancouver, BC on Feb 26th, 1992. Currently, I am attending Killarney Secondary School. Currently, I play curling on a team with my family. My goal for post secondary is to get into the UBC Engineering-Physics program. | Yaro - My full name is Yaroslav Chebunin, but most people call me Yaro. I am originally from the far east side of Russia and I immigrated to Canada at the age of 7. Throughout the years I have progressed through school with excellent grades and when the time came for me to go to high school, I was accepted into Killarney Mini School. In this program I have learned to develop very strong academic and social skills. One of the privileges of being in Mini School was the chance to participate in a science fair. This science fair, along with the help of my partner Kevin, allowed me to explore areas of science that I otherwise would not pay attention to. I am involved in several school activities and sports teams which include: working out in the weight room, Track and Field, and Tennis. As well, I enjoy playing the piano (I'm level 10 RCM by the way), researching anything new that's technology/computer related, hacking iPods, and reading. On Sundays I go to Willingdon church, and am involved in several church ministries. My future plans are to go to UBC and pursue a science career in the medical or engineering field. |
| Kevin Venalainen, Yaro Chebunin Efficiency is the Key
Division: | Health Sciences / Automotive | Category: | Intermediate | Region: | Greater Vancouver | City: | Coquitlam, BC, Vancouver, BC | School: | Killarney Secondary | Abstract: | Our project is based on testing which projectile shape will be the most efficient in a coil gun. We built a coil gun and measured the energy in bullets fired from it. Using this data, we figured out what efficiency, in percent, we were getting and compared the efficiencies across different projectile shapes. |
