Anti-Aging and UV Protection: Dandelion is the Answer
Challenge:Health
Category:Intermediate
Region:Northwestern Ontario
City:Thunder Bay, ON
School:Sir Winston Churchill C.V.I.
Abstract:Skin Fibroblast cells were treated with dandelion root, leaf, and flower extracts to determine their UV protection and anti aging capabilities. The extracts played a significant role in both protecting from UV when added before irradiation, and also reversing effects when added after irradiation, compared to cells without protection. The extracts also prevented cells from aging after an age provoking chemical (Hydrogen Peroxide) was added.
