Biography
My name is Taylor Smith and I am a grade 12 student at Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. I am a member of the student council as the head of the showcase committee. I also play the French Horn in my school band, and have taken private piano lessons for 10 years. I am passionate about both music and science and intend to continue studies in both throughout my life. In September, I plan to attend St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia for a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, then eventually move on to psychiatry in medical school once I get my degree.

The Wear and Tear of Bleach Dyed Hair
Challenge:Health
Category:Senior
Region:Strait
City:Antigonish, NS
School:Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional School
Abstract:This project will investigate the correlation between bleaching hair and the resultant thickness of the strands using single-slit diffraction. With background research, it was hypothesized that bleached hair would be thinner than natural hair, and dependent on time. By testing samples of natural and bleach-dyed hair, the hypothesis was confirmed. The data collected demonstrates a strong correlation between hair thickness and using bleach products.
