John - My name is John Coccimiglio and I am presently in Grade 12 at St. Ignatius High school in Thunder Bay. My courses this year include Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Functions, Calculus, English and Religious Education. I have a keen interest in the sciences and will be continuing my education in this field of study in the fall. I have been accepted at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay in the Applied Biomolecular Sciences Program. I hope to pursue a career in the medical field such as medical research. Throughout my high school tenure, I have been involved with tutoring students in math and have entered several math competitions. I have been actively involved as a player and assistant coach with the school tennis team. Last year, I traveled with the City Highschool Tennis team to the provincial championships in Toronto. This year, I entered the Regional Science Competition and will be attending the national competition. My volunteer activities includes work with the Alzheimer’s Society of Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Public Library and the Volunteer Pool Soccer Club. Presently, I am volunteering with the Roseview Seniors Manor as an activities co-ordinator developing activities for the Alzheimer’s patients. | Mario - My name is Mario Nucci, and I'm from Thunder Bay, Ontario. I enjoy math and science, music, sports, and hanging out with friends. At school, I'm involved in Student Council, presently the dance chair, I am the Student Trustee for my school board, and have been involved in various clubs and organizations. I love football, and am currently an Olympic-style weightlifter, totalling enough as a junior to qualifty for the Ontario Senior Championships. I love learning about the human body and its mechanics and processes, and eventually hope to pursue a career in medical research and practice. In the community, I am involved in many organizations including the Canadian Cancer Society, the regional hospital, and my Church, St. Anthony's. I try to carry myself with character and morals, and be the best I can be along the path of life. |
