I am 15 years old and attend Ecole Secondaire de Pain Court, in Pain Court Ontario. I'm in grade 10 and participate in school volleyball, improv, dance and singing. I regularly volunteer for the Heart & Stroke and sometimes at the YMCA. I've won many awards in school activities and also the Kiwanis Music Festival. This is my third CWSF and I cannot wait to arrive in Peterborough because I had such a great experience last year in Winnipeg. To see all of the great experiments and studies performed by my peers is unbelievable. I want to continue doing science fairs to help prepare me for university and life in general. I am also proud to represent my French school district, as this is our fourth opportunity to attend the CWSF and I am fortunate to represent my French community here the last year three years. |
| Taylor Lidster Thérapie de choc
Division: | Sciences de la terre et de l'environnement | Catégorie: | Intermédiaire | Région: | Chatham-Kent | Ville: | Chatham, ON | École: | École secondaire de Pain Court | Sommaire: | I shocked pea plants with an electrical current to determine what physical and cellular changes occurred. I found that shocking caused better growth, quicker germination, darker hues and by using hydroponics, I discovered that root growth was stunted. This was likely due to increased production of the hormone strigolactone, which regulates root growth. My next step could be, with help, to actually measure the hormone. |
